How PrevIQ organizes panels into syndrome buckets — the taxonomy behind every view.

PrevIQ groups the many panel names that appear in laboratory exports into a small set of syndrome buckets. This taxonomy is what makes prevalence comparable and reports readable.

Why bucketing exists

Different labs (and different instruments) name the "same" panel many ways — "UTI", "Urinary Tract Infection (MAKO)", "UTI with AMR", and more. PrevIQ maps each to a single canonical syndrome so you can reason about prevalence by clinical area instead of by label.

The syndrome buckets

Note

The lists above are illustrative, not exhaustive — PrevIQ maps dozens of real-world panel labels into these buckets. The mapping is maintained centrally so it stays consistent across all laboratories.

Combination panels

Some orders combine clinical areas in a single panel — for example "Female STI + Vaginosis" or "Women's Health (MAKO)". PrevIQ recognizes these as combo panels and routes each organism to its appropriate constituent syndrome, so a combined order doesn't distort any single syndrome's prevalence.

How this shows up in the app

  • Syndrome is a primary filter on Explore and a grouping on the Dashboard.
  • Panel is the next level down — within a syndrome you can drill to individual panels on the Vendors page.
  • Prevalence is always computed at the panel level first, then optionally pooled to the syndrome level. See Prevalence methodology.

Tip

If you see a panel label you expected in a different bucket, that's worth a quick note to OSPRI — the taxonomy is centrally curated and occasionally extended as new labels appear in data.
